2.) Matteo Ricci
3.)  Columbus Debate
4.) Debate rubric

Partner A is responsible for Zheng He
Partner B is responsible for Matteo Ricci

A.  Complete your reading and handout.  Be ready to teach your assignment to your partner.
B.  Review Columbus Debate and Rubric and break  into groups
C.  Meet in your group and assign roles

3.  Exploration DBQ (Document Based Analysis)

LEARNING OUTCOMES
a.  demonstrate your understanding of European exploration
b.  develop your ability to analyze two primary sources
c.  develop your ability to write a concise and thoughtful DBQ

This treaty was intended to solve the dispute over newly found land after Christopher Columbus returned from his discoveries.  Portugal emerged with an enhanced position by gaining a larger portion of South America (Brazil).  Spain had gained control of most of the New World.  The Treaty was not strictly enforced especially when the King of Portugal was also the King of Spain.  Spain and Portugal governments did not have enough power or control to maintain these lines.

Dear World Historians,

1.  Please complete Ch 17.4 today in class.  You can do CN or the GR in shared World History docs.

2.  Use the blank study guide (find this under "midterm review" in google docs at the bottom of the page) in class to work on your assigned portion and add it to the google doc over the weekend.  Working with google docs as a class doesn't work on campus. 

You have plenty of work to do this period so please use your time wisely!
